Ancestral Burn | 8x8 Fine Art Print
A human skull adorned with Nordic knots overlays a field of abstract fire. This morbid yet beautiful imagery brings to mind an ancient funeral pyre, a fire meant to comfort the living and send the dead to the hereafter. It is a reminder that death is but a door through which we all must pass, but it need not be the end. All those who have gone before us are with us still.
About the Art
I drew the skull portion of Ancestral Burn in 2005 for a graded project while I was attending art school. I came back to the art a few years later to create this collage. The image itself is based on a small resin skull I was given as a birthday gift. This piece was highly experimental as I was learning the digital medium and expressing my creativity in a different fashion. The majority of my work is illustrative in nature, but on occasion I like to explore more emotional pieces with surreal or abstract elements. I do not see death or human bones as things to be feared. They are a necessary part of our existence. If life were not so terribly fragile, we would not understand its worth.

About My Fine Art Prints
I print all my fine art prints myself in my studio with a 9 ink giclée quality wide format Epson printer. Each print is individually inspected to assure the highest possible quality, both as an art print and an accurate representation of my original artwork.
Stock will always be low as I only make a few of these prints at a time. Each number is recorded until I reach a total of 25 prints, then a new edition will begin.
Prints consist of an archival matte paper with exceptional detail retention for a museum quality reproduction and lightfast ink for up to 200 years. For longest lasting results, please display this item framed behind glass.
Certificate of Authenticity
This print is part of my older collection which I created in 2011. Each art print has two 'Print Plates' adhered to the back with archival glue. One provides the title and medium of the artwork, while the other is numbered and signed by hand with a non-reproducible archival ink. Together they serve as a certificate of authenticity, marking the validity of this print as a part of my own personal collection.
